In the general assembly of our chamber that took place on June 14th 2012, the following members were elected:

Mr. Lidor Carvalho Paz: Worked for six years at the Israeli Foreign Ministry Service in the Israeli Embassy in Brazil. A Certified Accountant in Brazil and today manages investments in Edmond de Rotchild Investments Inc Among other things responsible for costumers from Latin America in general and from Brazil.
We are confident that with the addition of these talented members, who own knowledge and experience, the Chamber will continue to evolve and grow. We wish our newcomers and ourselves to continue our fruitful work.
Activities – 2012
Seminar: Business in South America Using Trade Agreements (17.6)
The seminar that was organized in cooperation with the Israel-Latin America Chamber of Commerce, held in the auditorium of Bank Leumi, and brought various aspects of free trade agreement between Israel and MERCOSUR (trade association of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay). Sandra Rejwan moderated the Seminar . Mr. Aharon Sagi from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, opened the seminar .
Following that Mr Daniel Colbert-Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor, gave an overview of the trade agreement and Mr. Ilan Sosnitzki from the Ministry of Finance spoke about non-commercial risks. ASHRA company introduced the subject of insurance solutions for trade in Latin America, and Mrs.Eynat Guez and Attorney Oz Landau-Kantor Acco law office lectured on legal and economic implications of relocating employees to South America. Mr. David Choury presented customs and taxation issues in business with Latin America. Representatives of leading companies shared their working experience in Latin America. Representatives of Brazil and Uruguay embassies answered questions presented to them by participants at end of the discussion.

Seminar: Entering the Cosmetics, Medicine, Medical Devices and Food Supplements Market in Brazil (25.6)
The seminar was held at the Federations of Chambers of Commerce Tel-Aviv, attended by Israeli Foreign Ministry representative and representatives of the Brazilian Embassy.
Participants received a comprehensive explanation regarding marketing, regulation, procedures and standards while penetrating the Brazilian market, by Mandala Brazil, a company specializing in exports to Brazil of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, implants, cosmetics and food supplements.
The hall was packed, including representatives of various companies interested in export, and the speakers were happy to answer practical questions presented to them. In addition, Mr. Mario Olszakier, DSc. VP Sales, presented the experience of MEDICAL FLIGHT in Brazil. The seminar provided an in-depth professional view of these unique issues for those who wish to export to Brazil in this area.

Completion of the Portuguese Course – Beginners Level (24.6)
The Portuguese course – beginner’s level was resumed this month. The teacher Clarinha brought delicious Brazilian dishes to the graduation celebrations and the chamber of commerce brought Brazilian hats and flags. In addition, there was good atmosphere and good Brazilian music. Graduates received certificates and read a thank you letter in Portuguese. Feedbacks on the course were excellent and the students really enjoyed the teacher, the content of the course and the professional atmosphere. New courses for beginners and advanced level are planned for the beginning of September – registration is already available at: 03-5142819/845 or at cohen@export.gov.il

Seminar “Brazil– News, Tips and Real experiences in a promising business environment”
On 15.3.12 our Chamber conducted a very successful seminar with over 100 participants from leading Israeli companies.. The purpose of the seminar was to provide Israeli business community information , tips and share best practices on doing business in Brazil . The Seminar took place at the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, in Tel Aviv.
After a networking session the seminar started with the following greetings:
Mr. Rubin Schlussel – Member of the Presidium , Chairman of the Food Sector and the International Committee of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Rafi Harpaz – Head of Economic 1 Department America & Africa –Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Brazilian Ambassador in Israeli H.E Maria Elisa Berenguer.
The Seminar included a macro overview of Brazil by our Chairman Dr Shmuel Yerushalmi . Foolowing that our guest from Brazil, Adv. Benny Spiewak from ZCBS Advogados presented his experience of representing leading Israeli companies operating in Brazil. Mr Spiewak provided interesting and crucial insights on the various stages of entering the Brazilian market , business activity in Brazil, facts, laws , important issues to know and take into account when operating in the Brazilian business environment .
Further in the evening leading companies shared with the audience their business experi-ences in Brazil: ECI , GONET SYSTEMS, and POMEG-TECH. In addition Adv. Amit Acco from Kan-tor & Acco –Global relocation law firm introduced visa issues and other important immigration aspects for working and operating in Brazil.
The last session of the seminar consisted of a panel and Q & A session where participants shared their business experience in Brazil.

Portuguese Course – February 2012
Portuguese entry-level course was launched and participants are already passing an exciting experience of meeting with the Portuguese language, with brings a rich true Brazilian aroma.

Mr Jayme Blay – President of the Brazil Israel Chamber of Commerce and Industry was hosted by The Israel Brazil Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tel Aviv. During the meeting Mr Shlomo Lempert –Executive Director of The Israel-Brazil Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the “2011 summary activities report” , 2012 PLANS and the suggested areas for further collaborations between the two chambers .

November 2011– BRAZIL ECONOMIC SUPPLEMENT IN HEBREW
The Brazil economic supplement was published to HAARETZ /THE MARKER subscribers .The supplement provided a wide overview on Brazil, its opportunities and potential, our Chamber activities and much more.
November 2011- WATEC FAIR – Hosting and Supporting Brazilian delegations in Israel
Our Chamber provided support to the various delegations from different states in Brazil who visited WATEC trade fair. Our activities included, among others, assistance in meetings with Israeli companies, facilitation and promotion of business meetings and accompanying groups on their visits.
November 2011 – ISRAFOOD FAIR – Participation and collaboration with the Brazilian Embassy
October 2011- Seminar with Clara Ant –Senior Advisor to Former Brazilian President LULA
The Israel – Brazil Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducted a seminar in which Ms. Clara Ant, Senior Advisor of President Lula during the last 10 years , offered a special lecture : Brazil’s Socio-Economic strategies and plans during President Lula administration and its influence on Brazil’s economic growth. Among the distinguished guests were H.E Maria Elisa Berenguer–Brazilian Ambassador in Israel, Mr Jack Terpins -President, Latin American Jewish Congress and others. Ms. Clara Ant also conducted the last presidential election campaign and is now director of the Institute LULA.

September 2011 – Our Chamber had the honor to host the President of the Jewish Federation of the State of Rio Grande do Sul
